About Us
The TSKF Wellington dojo has been in operation since 1992. We offer classes for beginner grades and senior grades. These classes have adults and children in the same class, making it easy for a family to join together. It's an encouraging environment, where everyone is constantly learning. Classes include line work, pad work, kata, kumite (sparring) and practical application of techniques.
Regular events include weekend training seminars, Southern Region and National competitions, and our annual Gasshuku event run by TSKF New Zealand Deputy Chief Instructor Sensei Mark Willis (8th Dan Black Belt).
A list of New Zealand dojos can be found here.

Sensei Grant Stove - 5th Dan
The Wellington Churton Park Dojo is led by Sensei Grant Stove, 5th Dan black belt. Grant has over 25 years experience in Shotokan karate, and was a founding member of the Wellington Dojo in 1992.
He is assisted by other senior black belts during training as required.

Gradings
TSKF New Zealand’s Chief Instructor is Professor Shunsuke Takahashi, who has been training New Zealanders in Shotokan Karate since 1978. Known to us as Takahashi Shihan, he is an 9th Dan black belt, and is based in Tokyo, Japan.
He returns to New Zealand on a regular basis, to conduct training seminars and gradings around the country.
Gradings are generally held in March and August, although they may be run at other times by Sensei Grant or other senior Instructors.
